February 6, 2011 marks the 100th birthday of President Reagan. The impact of his leadership is still evident. This unique photographic collection honors his life and legacy. Монография посвящена систематическому изложению свойств, методов синтеза и возможностей применения пористого кремния, нанокремния и композитных материалов на их основе. Подробно изложены методы получения нанокристаллического кремния и проведен их сравнительный анализ. Описаны электронные и оптические свойства, современные методы исследования, позволяющие дать характеристику спектральных и структурных свойств этого материала, обладающего уникальными оптическими (поглощение излучения в УФ-области и фотолюминесценция в видимой области спектра) и электрофизическими свойствами. Значительное внимание уделяется различным областям практического применения: в УФ-защитных покрытиях, биоаналитике и солнечной энергетике. Представлены результаты исследований трансформации свойств, наночастиц кремния в зависимости от химического состава примесей, появляющихся при синтезе и нахождении наночастиц в атмосфере воздуха. Описаны методы диагностики структуры, состава образующихся примесей и способы направленного модифицирования поверхности наночастиц кремния и функции их распределения по размерам. Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is important cereal crop and staple food of people of Pakistan. It occupies the first position in area amongst the cereal crops and covers about 65% of food crop area in Pakistan. Red Flour Beetle, Tribolium castaneum Herbst (Coleoptera:Tenebrionidae) are cosmopolitan insects that are associated with stored grains. The red flour beetle feed only on flour and broken kernels. In addition to grain they attack dried feeds, dry fruits, pulses and prepared cereal foods such as cornflakes and numerous other stored food products. Flour beetles contaminate wheat and other cereal products by their feces and cast –off exoskeleton. The odors that they leave and discoloration of white cereal products to a dirty gray. Both the larva and the adult cause damage. Chemicals are quite harmful and very expensive and cause many human health problems. Keeping in view the importance of these problems, present studies were under taken as an attempt to find out the inherent and comparative resistance of different wheat varieties against Red flour beetles, which could be utilized in developing wheat varieties resistance against this pest in future.

All the biological parameters done from fresh cows’ urine of different stages respectively Calves, Pregnant cows, Milking cows. From every stage four cows were selected and urine samples taken at week intervals in early morning time.The pH of cow urine in each stage cow was alkaline with exception in C1 at week-3 and in P2 at week -1 where the pH was 6.93 and 6.97 respectively and EC was highest in calves. Urea and Phenol and amino acid contents found highest in pregnant followed by milch cows than calves. Amylase activity and uric acid were significantly highest in urine of milking cows. Total nitrogen content was maximum in pregnant cows while it was true for sulfur content for calves. The calves showed highest mean value of sodium content while the pregnant cows showed the highest content of potassium. Calcium and magnesium were maximum in urine of pregnant cows. Manganese was not varied from individual cows except few.

Over the last few decades, Energy saving has been a major concern in every process Industry. A slight saving in Energy can benefit in crores of money. Energy savings are of primary importance in the design of Heat exchangers leading to more efficient and Environment friendly devices. The book summarizes the comprehensive research on Heat Transfer Enhancement using a new technique using TMT rods as inserts. Enhancement is a practice of modifying the surface to increase the heat transfer coefficient between the surface and the fluid. Experiments were carried out under two conditions of Rod inserts with and without baffles in the tube side flow of a double pipe heat Exchanger and the results are compared with a smooth tube DPHE. Rod inserts act as a turbulence promoter. It mixes the boundary fluid and the bulk fluid and thus reduces the boundary layer thickness. The effect of inserts on the heat transfer coefficient and the pressure drop were investigated at different flow rates. This technique can enhance the heat transfer coefficient by about 2.5 times with a very low fabrication cost.

As the transistors became smaller in size and the systems became faster, issues like power consumption, signal integrity, soft error tolerance, and testing became serious challenges. There is an increasing demand to put CAD tools in the design flow to address these issues at every step of the design process. First part of this research investigates circuit level techniques to reduce power consumption in digital systems. In second part, improving soft error tolerance of digital systems is considered as a trade off problem between power and reliability and a power aware dynamic soft error tolerance control strategy is developed. The objective of this research is to provide CAD tools and circuit design techniques to optimize power consumption and to increase soft error tolerance of digital circuits. Multiple supply and threshold voltages are used to reduce power consumption. Variable supply and threshold voltages are used together with variable capacitances to develop a dynamic soft error tolerance control scheme.
