This book reports a study conducted in Northern Areas of Pakistan. The purpose of the study is to explore the Post-WSIP experiences of a public and a private school headteacher. A qualitative case study method was applied to investigate the subject matter. The participants were selected on the basis of pre-determined criteria that they have participated in WSIP intervention, worked for at least one year after completion of programme and successfully implemented their WSIP learning in their schools. The findings of the study showed that WSIP intervention has been instrumental in bringing about a significant effect on the professional approaches of headteachers. It was depicted that they have reformed their attitudes, realised the importance of community participation, team building approach and outcomes of encouraging teachers. They are sensitised towards students’ learning and their developmental needs. To meet students’ needs, they have brought about visible changes in their routine practices. Although much as has been written on the subject of motivation, an attempt to uncover written literatures on motivation within the context of university support staff may appear a difficult task. This piece of work which is mainly the outcome of a review of relevant literatures and lessons gained from my experience while serving as a university staff in an African context starts by identifying who support staff in an institution of higher learning are and the reasons why they should be motivated. Informed by different motivational theories, it identifies management’s catalytic role in support staff motivation which could result in a rise in work performance and subsequent progress of the university. Furthermore, this publication argues that support staff performance appraisal can be a useful tool to ascertain the effect of institutionalized motivational schemes on work performance. It concludes by maintaining that human motivation is complex as evident by variances in human needs, tastes and preferences. Climate change : Effects on Biodiversity of Freshwater Fauna

The perspective of climate change and its direct affects on freshwater resources and indirect affects on diversity of fish fauna and freshwater micro-fauna such as zooplankton was presented here. North-eastern India- a mega biodiversity hot spot is considered as a natural resource of observation. Two key environmental parameters such as temperature and rainfall have been investigated in relation to climate change in North-eastern India in general and Tripura in particular. During a period of 28 years from 1982 to 2010 the atmospheric temperature is increased- 17.2-22.12 0C with average increase-0.2 0C per year. Rainfall is decreased from 162 mm to 37 mm, with average decrease- 3.34-5.26 mm per year. Data of CO2 at 0530 hrs shows a mean value- 17.27±6.43 ppm. Hence,data of climate change is relatively greater. Diversity of freshwater fish species in the freshwater ecosystem is reduced to 67 species from 146 species of 1982. Therefore,gradual decrease of rainfall as well as increase of temperature and CO2 over a period of three decades are the results of climate change in freshwater environment of North-Eastern Indian region.

The Acquisition of literacy skills such as reading, writing, and numeracy are critical. The increased amounts of information generated by the process of globalization have produced greater requirements for the need of new forms of knowledge and major emphasis is placed on the development of the individual competencies to meet these needs. Individuals who participate in literacy programs are positioned to achieve better results. I used the hierarchical linear regression model to investigate the differences between the stand-alone literacy programs and family learning programs. The result of this study affirmed the major research questions and the theoretical frame that family learning programs with high bonding and bridging social capital also have higher achievement test scores than stand-alone programs. This research supported both human capital and social capital theories, because the theory of human capital alone lacks most of the variables needed to assess literacy skills under the basic education program. This study will benefit government agencies, education professionals or future researchers who may explore further the issue of participation in literacy education programs.
